Marilyn Salenger is the founder and President of Strategic Communications Services, Inc. (SCS, Inc.). She is a leading strategic communications and marketing expert with a background that has spanned the media, corporate, political and non-profit sectors. Her cumulative years of top level experience provides clients with unique insight and guidance designed to meet their specific needs.
An Emmy Award winning news correspondent and anchorwoman for the CBS Owned and Operated stations, Marilyn Salenger began her career as a broadcast journalist. Reporting on major news events, she has interviewed three Presidents of the United States, numerous heads of state as well as CEOís of major corporations.
Breaking ground for women throughout her career, Marilyn Salenger was the first woman hired by CBS for their newsroom in Cincinnati, Ohio. She later created, co-produced and anchored the first all womenís television news program in the United States, and became the first woman to solo anchor a newscast in Boston, Massachusetts. Marilyn Salenger is the recipient of numerous additional awards, including the National Women in Communications Award for an Outstanding Television New Series, "RAPE". The series resulted in the City of Bostonís first rape crisis program.
Rounding out her years on television, Ms. Salenger became one of the first correspondents reporting on news in the entertainment business for Paramountís nationally syndicated program, "Entertainment Tonight".
Marilyn Salenger went on to head Salenger Video Productions which produced video and television product for corporate clients. The company was honored with three Chicago International Film Festival Awards as well as Mercury and Questar awards recognizing "World Class Achievement in Professional Communications".
Ms. Salenger has served on the National Advisory Committee for the National Womenís Resource Data Bank and the National Board of the Center for Women in the Performing Arts. She is a published writer and has been a public speaker throughout her career. Ms Salenger was appointed to the Massachusetts Governorís Commission on the Status of Women by Governor Frank Sargeant. In honor of her mother, she created a first-of-its kind scholarship at the University of Arizona, earmarked for a woman who wants to return to college after an absence of at least a two year period of time.
Marilyn Salenger, along with her son, is the founder of the Childrenís Summer Lunch Program, a non-profit organization on the East End of Long Island that provides bagged summer lunch groceries for a diverse population of children who are on government free or reduced school lunch programs during the school year. The Childrenís Summer Lunch Program has helped feed over two thousand children and successfully filled a community need.
Marilyn Salenger is a graduate of Indiana University with a B.A. in Radio and Television and Political Science.
